THE CRAWLING
HAND (1963/Hansen Enterprises) 89 Minutes Black & White. 16mm Original
in Very Good shape
If you have a fondness
for cheap little monster movies then this is the ticket. It is a sincere
little scarefest that succeeds more than occasionally. Neatly divided
at the reel break into two more-or-less independent plots the movie has
a time of it in the first reel with the crawling hand, and then goes a little conventional in
the second with a Jekyll and Hyde rehash. Still very successful–especially for snotty little neighborhood
kids who think black and white movies are dull and not scary. Starring,
among others, Alan Hale Jr.(the Skipper,) Alison Hayes, Tris Coffin and
a little kitty cat. Papa oom mow mow is featured on the jukebox, twice.
Another movie from the director of Frankenstein's Daughter, that lovable old sadist, Herbert L. Strock. Screenplay by William Idelson & Herbert
L. Strock; Special Effects by Charlie Duncan; Make Up by Don Cash. From
a story by Joseph Cranston, Malcolm Young & William Idelson. Starring
Peter Breck, Kent Taylor, Rod Lauren, Alan Hale Jr., Allison Hayes, Sirry
Steffen, Arline Judge, Richard Arlen, Tristram Coffin.
